After splitting from Bachelor Brad Womack, blonde Southern belle Emily Maynard became the frontrunner to helm Bachelorette Season 8. After all, she’s got a touching back story, a genuine demeanor, and Miss America good looks. But, back in July 2011, Emily dispelled Bachelorette casting rumors with one simple tweet: “I don’t want to be the Bachelorette.”
Flash-forward 9 months and Emily’s now not only done with her tenure as the Bachelorette for Season 8, she's also engaged to Utah hottie Jef Holm! Emily overcame her initial fears about uprooting daughter Ricki when ABC proposed moving the show’s entire production to her hometown. A source close to Emily tells InTouch magazine there was another reason she changed her mind: ABC is paying her a $250,000 base salary to be The Bachelorette.
If ABC is, in fact, paying Emily $250,000, that’s more than twice the usual base salary paid to Bachelors and Bachelorettes. Ashley Hebert, star of The Bachelorette Season 7, reportedly made $100,000 for her tenure. But who can put a price on true love? Ashley is now engaged to the guy to whom she gave her final rose, JP Rosenbaum, whose cuteness is just not quantifiable in cash money terms.
