Bachelorette Emily Maynard fell hard for Utah entrepreneur Jef Holm — and so did the show’s 8 million (on average) weekly viewers. From his pompadour to his poetic vernacular to his affinity for knee socks, Jef has single-handedly revived the teenage heartthrob from its Tiger Beat-lined coffin. Just ask Tumblr!
But wait, it gets better! Not only is Jef a dreamy hipster poet, he’s also a fairly rich one. (Dreams do come true!) Remember Jef’s family’s massive Holmstead Ranch in Saint George, Utah? That’s not the only palace this boy has lived in. RumorFix has the details (via Zillow) of Jef’s childhood home — complete with 9 bedrooms, an infinity pool, tennis court, golf course, luxury spa, all of which is now for sale for a whopping $3.4 million.
One of our favorite things about Jef is his duality. One one hand, he’s just a sweet dude who runs a company that works to bring clean water to developing countries. On the other hand, he’s had a pretty lavish upbringing — and is an heir to a massive empire built by his father, Monte Holm.
Monte and wife Lisa didn’t always live the life of sprawling ranches with infinity pools, according to Monte’s bio on the World Financial Group website. Monte and Lisa almost lost their home while Monte “struggled to find work in the construction industry” during the early years of their marriage, the site explains.
Monte soon had a major realization about what he wanted to do and jumped head first into the financial services industry — a career change that wasn’t immediately lucrative, the site says. “In his first year in the financial industry, [Monte] made little more than $7,000. But in his second year, he made $100,000 — and the business only grew from there. In the early 1980s, he went from making no money to being a millionaire, and then a few years later was a multimillionaire.”
Today, Monte and Lisa have six children, and Monte’s diligent business strategy seems to have been instilled in all of them. Jef co-founded his own company, People Water, with friend Cody Barker. People Water’s rapid success recently prompted them to name a new CEO, who will focus on revenue growth, relationship building, and establishing profitability for the startup, according to PR Newswire.
So, what do all of these words mean in dollar signs? It’s basically like Secret Millionaire: Bachelorette edition! Celebrity Net Worth lists Jef’s worth as $3 million, almost as much as Emily Maynard’s reported net worth of $5 million.
