Nearly every season of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette ends in a proposal, but very few of the couples make it to the altar. In fact, Ashley Hebert  and J.P. Rosenbaum’s wedding this weekend will mark only the third resulting directly from the shows’ 24 combined seasons.

There are probably many reasons for the low success rate, but one is probably the limited amount of time the lovebirds actually spend together before they get engaged. For example, how much time did Ashley and J.P. spend in each other’s company before they decided to make it a forever thing? Not a whole lot!

The typical shooting schedule for each season is six to eight weeks, which is a pretty short amount of courting time just on its face. But when you take into consideration the fact that one half of the couple is dating multiple people for most of that period, it seems even more sudden!

In the case of Ashley and J.P., the couple shared two one-on-one dates and three group dates before their hometown visit together. Including the hometown visit and their romantic overnight date in Fiji, J.P. and Ashley had a total of seven dates before deciding to get married. And they were only truly alone for one of them!

When you think about it, that makes their walk down the aisle on Saturday all the more incredible!
