2013 Bachelor Sean Lowe and his fiancée, Catherine Giudici are at a tricky point in their relationship. They’re engaged to be married, but really haven’t spend much time alone together yet — they met and fell in love while reality TV cameras filmed the entire process.
But while many people are expecting Sean and Catherine’s relationship to crumble, Bachelorette success Ashley and J.P. Rosenbaum are proof that the franchise really can lead to happily ever after.
The newlyweds recently spoke to Parade about what has made their relationship last, and how Sean and Catherine can see similar success.
“Our advice to Catherine and Sean would just be to enjoy everything that you’re doing now,” Ashley says, “and to be sure that when you go back to the real world, that’s the time that you really start to learn about the other person.”
Spending quality time away from the cameras is key, J.P. says. “When we got done with the show, she moved up to New York and we started living together. That’s when our relationship really started.”
In fact, plenty of things in their relationship have changed since J.P first got down on one knee and popped the question on national TV. “We were in love at the end of the show, but our love now is so much different than what it was,” he says.
There you have it. If Sean and Catherine can fall in love with each other just as much now — in the real world — than they were on TV, their relationship should be able to work out just fine. It will take work, but the possibility of a happy ending is certainly not out of the question for these two.
