Mike Fleiss knows his television. Often called the “Reality TV King,” Mike’s responsible for creating, producing, and writing The Bachelorette, The Bachelor, and Bachelor Pad. He’s also — fun fact! — Heidi Fleiss’ cousin. Mike’s been in the game for 10 years now, since The Bachelor premiered in 2002. As we anxiously await word as to whether our Bachelor 16 favorites Kacie Boguskie and Jaclyn Swartz will be joining the Bachelor Pad 3 fray this July, here’s some new scoop from Mike. In an interview with After the Rose, Mike explains the decision to cast newbies alongside Bachelor Nation contestants:

“The Bachelor Pad audience is smaller than for The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, but it's maybe even more intense. The people that love "Bachelor Pad" really, really, love it so we just said we want to do something for those fans so we thought it would be great to give a handful of the real hard core followers a chance to really be on the show themselves. We are really excited to see how that plays out. We haven't decided yet whether it will be a fans versus faves kind of a season, we are still working on how the game play is going to work. There will be more former cast members than there will be fans so that's all I can say about that at this point.”
