Chris Lambton may be the first person to be upset with The Bachelor franchise for making him seem too nice. The Season 6 Bachelorette fan fave revealed to the Boston Globe why he turned down his shot to be the Season 15 Bachelor: The show focused on the 2008 death of his mother, Marjorie, and ignored both his work as a teacher in New York City schools and his sarcastic sense of humor.

"I'm not a one-dimensional person," Chris said. "I know they were like, 'Go ask him about his mom again.' They didn't talk about my teaching. They didn't talk about anything else. It was good editing."

According to the Globe story, ABC gave Chris the hard sell to be their Season 15 Bachelor. They reportedly promised him he could have his family close by and that he could choose the location of the exotic dates. Chris says ABC upped his initial salary offer, which an insider tells the Globe would've been in the mid six figures. Chris took more than three months to turn the show down, telling them in September he wanted to go back to his regular-Joe life. And so we ended up with Brad Womack as the Bachelor 2.0.

Now Chris is spending time with "his girlfriend of several months, a tall, blond woman from Texas," whom fans know to be Bachelor and Bachelor Pad star Peyton Wright.

If he passed on The Bachelor, why'd he agree to do The Bachelorette in the first place? The short answer is that he didn't actually make the first step! One of his Cape Cod landscaping clients signed him up because she was shocked her favorite landscaper was still single. Chris had never watched the series before she applied for him, so he had no idea what he was in for.

Chris may watch the new season of The Bachelor when it premieres on January 3, because he suspects — and rightfully so — that the contestants were cast with him in mind. "One of those women could have been my wife," he said. Sorry, ladies!
