Chris Harrison surprised Bachelorette fans with a recent tweet announcing that the Season 8 July 22 “After the Final Rose” episode would air live. In seasons past, it had always been taped. Why the sudden change of format? We finally have the answer.

Wetpaint Entertainment can exclusively reveal that although Emily Maynard did accept a proposal in Curacao, events have occurred since the finale was taped in May that could have caused major problems in her relationship.

Without giving away too much, a source tells us that at least one person involved in the final trio of characters –Emily, Arie Luyendyk, Jr., and Jef Holm – has had “lingering feelings” that need to be addressed.

So who’s still carrying a torch and can’t let go? That remains to be seen. We’re told producers are doing a live show to prevent leaks and that neither Emily, Arie, nor Jef know exactly how things are going to play out.

Could what’s transpired be so egregious that it put Emily’s engagement in danger? Is her engagement over? That remains to be seen. But one thing's clear: we’ll be watching!
