When we left Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) in the fall finale of The Blacklist, he wasn’t exactly the picture of health. After playing the least sexy game of doctor in history with Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) at the blacksite, we last saw him in the hospital. There, he was reunited with his ex, due to failing to change his emergency contacts list after his last mortal wounding.

Well, if you were worried that you’d never get to see Don and Red square off again, let us alleviate your fears. “Agent Ressler isn’t going anywhere,” executive producer Jon Bokenkamp tells TVLine.

However, that doesn’t mean there won’t be future ramifications from the events of the Season 1 midseason finale, “Anslo Garrick Part 2”. Jon teases, “...The injuries [Don has] sustained and the revelations made about his character in the fall cliffhanger will certainly impact the show going forward.” Of course, now our minds are running all over the place. Considering the guy had a leg wound cauterized with gunpowder, could he be in danger of losing a limb or worse?

As for the “revelations made about his character”, we can’t help but remember Don being oddly moved by Red’s desire to “sleep like [he] did when [he] was a boy.” Could Ressler be keeping some skeletons in his own closet? Well, yeah, probably. Does anyone on this show sleep like a baby? We think not.
