JonBenét Ramsey Ransom Note Under Scrutiny in New Docuseries (VIDEO)
The unsolved murder of JonBenét Ramsey has captured the intrigue of professional and armchair investigators for nearly two decades, but the case is gaining new scrutiny in light of CBS's new docuseries, premiering September 18.
One piece of evidence in particular — the ransom note — is getting a lot of attention, with a former FBI profiler asserting the letter was "clearly staged."
In a clip from The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey, forensic scientist Henry Lee and ex FBI agent Jim Clemente both cast doubt on the authenticity of the note.
Henry points out the letter was written on a pad on Patsy's desk and whomever wrote it practiced writing it several times before writing the final draft.
Jim seems to agree the note is fishy, pointing out the poor logic and high risk involved with taking the time to write several drafts of a random note in the middle of a kidnapping, which the team estimates took at least 21 and a half minutes.
"That's 21 and a half minutes that they could have been caught, 21 and a half minutes they stayed in the house longer than they needed to," Jim points out.
So if the note is staged, as the investigators conclude, the next question is: who wrote it? We guess we'll have to watch the show to find out their theories.
The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey premieres Sunday, September 18 at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
