The Dark Knight Rises, 30 Beats, Grassroots: Wetpaint Entertainment’s Sexy-Not Sexy Weekend Movie Guide, 7/20
You've worked hard all week... or maybe you haven't. Either way, you deserve to treat yourself to a low-key night in a cool, dark theater, where you can comfortably enjoy a tub of buttery popcorn without being judged. Here's the scoop on three flicks showing this Friday, July 20.
The Dark Knight Rises
The wait is finally over! After going into hiding for eight years, Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) feels obligated to resume his Gotham-protecting duties as Batman when a cat burglar (Anne Hathaway) and a masked terrorist named Bane (Tom Hardy) emerge. Sexy: Christian Bale, yum! Not sexy: Bane Verdict: This final installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy is a must-see — make it a fun night out with a big group of friends!
This rom-com follows 10 New Yorkers as they move from random hookup to random hookup during a three-day summer heat wave. The ensemble cast includes Jennifer Tilly and Justin Kirk (Andy from Weeds!). Sexy: Duh, steamy encounters! Not sexy: Walks of shame Verdict: We're intrigued, but the few reviews out so far beg to differ. Regardless, this sizzler may prove a bit awkward for a first date, but could spice things up for a longtime couple!
Based on a true story, this is a political comedy about Grant Cogswell (Joel David Moore), an unemployed music critic who decided to run for Seattle City Councilman back in 2001. His campaign angle? Dressing like a polar bear and solving Seattle's mass transit problems with an overhead monorail. It also stars Jason Biggs as Grant's campaign manager. Sexy: Jason Biggs... if you like the geeky types Not sexy: Jason Biggs... to the rest of us Verdict: The critics are torn on this one — you'll definitely want to skip it if politics bore you as much as Season 4 of The O.C. did, but check it out if elections get you (or your man) excited.
