The second movie in The Hunger Games series, Catching Fire, is coming out on November 22, but we’re already fast-forwarding to the third and final book, Mockingjay. It’s actually going to be split into two movies and another character was just cast for both sections of the finale.
According to Lionsgate, 39-year-old actor Mahershala Ali (House of Cards, Alphas, Treme, The 4400) has been cast as Boggs. In the book, Boggs starts as a close ally of rebellion leader Alma Coin (Julianne Moore), the president of District 13, but he basically becomes Katniss’s (Jennifer Lawrence) bodyguard and his loyalties shift.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is expected to open in November 2014, with Part 2 following in November 2015. Other roles recently cast include Patina Miller as Panem President Commander Paylor, Lily Rabe as Commander Lyme, Evan Ross as Messalla, Stef Dawson as Annie, and Natalie Dormer as Cressida.
Are you already excited (or nervous) for Mockingjay, or do you just want to get through Catching Fire first and then figure out how you feel?
