The Lying Game Season 2 wrapped up back in March, capping off 10 episodes of double-crossing, switched identities, and longing glances at Ethan’s (Blair Redford) remarkable coiff.
But has The Lying Game been renewed for Season 3? We haven’t heard a peep from ABC Family about whether the twin-tastic drama will return next year, but according to Deadline, time may be running out for the show.
Simply put, the status of which actors will return for Season 3 is in limbo until ABC Family can decide whether it will renew the show. The problem? The network wants to see how well its summer programming does before saying “yes” to more episodes of The Lying Game, but that require the actors to hold tight for a couple more months — something they are no longer contractually obligated to do as of the end of April.
While series lead Alexandra Chando (Sutton Mercer) is reportedly on board for another season and Blair Redford (Ethan Whitehorse) is in negotiations, the rest of the Lying Game cast is in various stages of talks with the studio over contracts.
Executive producer and showrunner Chuck Pratt Jr.’s status is also up in the air, as his contract ended when The Lying Game Season 2 wrapped production.
“Each of us will have to make some decisions in the event of a pick-up,” wrote Chuck in an email to the Lying Game crew. “We all love this show, and if this is to be its last run, we want to be there. Once again, we wait...”
Will you be devastated if The Lying Game isn’t renewed for Season 3?
