While we absolutely loved the first few episodes of The Originals, they were missing one important ingredient to bring the New Orleans-based supernatural series to a whole other level: more Daniel Gillies (Elijah Mikaelson)!

According to TVLine, Daniel won’t have to pull double duty between The Originals and Saving Hope any longer. Julie Plec, creator of the Vampire Diaries spin-off, reports that Daniel is going to be back on full-time for the remainder of the season. Praise!

There are so many things we enjoy about having Daniel around. Not only can he act his socks off — seriously, Elijah is so complex and swoon-worthy — but he adds a huge family factor to The Originals, with his character bringing Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) together. Elijah is the glue that holds the Mikaelson family together.

On top of all that, it looks like Elijah might be getting a love interest. In last night’s episode, Episode 6 (“Fruit of the Poisoned Tree”), we got to see some intense moments between Elijah and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin). While this could throw a creepy wrench in his dynamic with little bro Klaus (the father of Hayley’s unborn hybrid baby), we were totally shipping them together in the pool. Did you see the way he looked at her?

Are you excited that Daniel is going to be on The Originals for the rest of the season? No more daggers in the heart, yay!

The Originals airs on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
