Though The Originals may do a majority of its filming in Atlanta, it makes the occasional production trip to New Orleans (aka the setting of the supernatural series). Check out what The Originals stars had to say about the city in this new CW featurette.

“It feels great to be back in New Orleans. It’s starting to feel like a home, though — a home away from home,” Joseph Morgan (Klaus) said. “I really enjoyed shooting stuff right in the heart of the French Quarter. We need to see the city because it really is like a character on the show. It’s what has driven Klaus to be here. He wants the city back, so we need to see what he’s fighting for, I think.”

Daniel Gillies (Elijah) was in awe of the “magic of the city,” and spoke about it with absolute eloquence. “Far too much cacophonous decadance happening,” Daniel said. “Just breathtaking, and [the locations are] so cinematically perfect. They look phony, they’re so like a movie set.”

Claire Holt (Rebekah) gave a special shout-out to the Lafayette Cemetery, where some of the witchy scenes have been filmed: “There’s a history and a vibe here that just adds so much to our show,” said Claire. “That was amazing.”

Co-star Charles Michael Davis (Marcel) singled out Bourbon Street as a standout because “you can just walk out on the street and be entertained.” We love the passion these actors have for this city — and hope to see more of the iconic setting in future eps.
