Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) are all set to flee town in the promo for Season 1, Episode 15 (“Le Grand Guignol”) of The Originals — but something seems to be getting in their way. What’s in store for us in next week’s episode?

“There’s only one way that we can truly hide from Klaus (Joseph Morgan) forever: get out of town,” Marcel says to Rebekah as they sit in a car in the opening to the 30-second promo. They don’t waste any time enacting their plan. In the next shot, we see the car driving across a NOLA bridge, presumably on course for a life on the run or, as we like to call it, The Katherine Pierce Strategy.

As we see Klaus slowly open his eyes, Rebekah tells Marcel: “He’ll chase us to the ends of the earth. It’s a suicide mission.”

Marcel plays the optimist in the group: “It’s our only hope.”

For those hoping that a few hours back under the influence of the dagger might have cooled Klaus’ rage, think again. In the next shot, we see Elijah standing over Klaus’ bed, as he suffers silently. Elijah leans in to hear Klaus’ whisper-vow: “They will pay for this.” So, no more “forever and always,” then, huh?

Rebekah and Marcel seem to put the temporary kibosh on their exodus. In the next shot, we see someone take out a witch — maybe Marcel? The synopsis tells us: “Thierry is reluctant to get involved when Marcel and Rebekah approach him with a plan to take down the witches.”

“If we don’t leave, there will be no one to save,” Rebekah tells Marcel in what appears to be the Lafayette Cemetery. You’re going the wrong way, guys! A voiceover features Klaus’ enraged cry for “Rebekaaah!”

“I will not leave you behind,” an impassioned Marcel tells Rebekah. Have we mentioned how much we love his declarations of affection for Rebekah? But why is this an either-or situation? Is Rebekah trapped in the cemetery? Is this Klaus’ doing? This show, man.

Catch the next episode of The Originals on Tuesday, March 4 at 8 p.m. ET on the CW.
