Though Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) might not be the most prominent threat on Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) radar right now what with his banishment from the French Quarter, that doesn’t mean Klaus’ former mentor shouldn’t be worried about a Marcel-led coup. As we can see in this sneak peek for tonight’s all-new episode of The Originals, Marcel is plotting to get his city back, which means these two frenemies will eventually have to battle. Charles talked to E! Online about the ever-imminent struggle.

"Klaus is going to be a real jerk, a real a—hole," Charles teased. "Marcel is going to be super cool, he's going to come from a really, strong, grounded, secure place. They're probably going to get into a little heated battle." We think Charles may be biased, but we consider pretty much every other character on this show level-headed when compared to Klaus. But, more than a level head, what Marcel really needs is allies, and it sounds like he may be getting them. According to Charles: "Everyone is looking to gain leverage, so I think there are people who can see Marcel as an asset.” A centuries old vampire with an emotional connection to Klaus and more charisma than he knows what to do with? Yeah, we’d say Marcel is an asset. Question is: Who is going to pick him for their team?

Our immediate instinct is to say that Davina will eventually come looking for her former bestie. These two have an emotional connection that goes beyond alliances, and it only seems like a matter of time before they team up again — especially if Davina is eventually run out of the witch community. Another possibility is Genevieve. Though she is allied with Klaus now, we don’t that is going to last long. In this producer’s promo for tonight’s episode, we see Klaus literally at Genevieve’s throat. How long until this alliance topples and Genevieve goes looking for another?

Who do you think Marcel will team up with? Do you think he has any chance of taking down Klaus? Share your theories in the comments below!

The Originals airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
