Now that we’ve dealt with huge explosions on The Originals, naturally it’s time to tackle nightmares. That’s right, things are getting a bit spooky in Season 1, Episode 20 (“A Closer Walk With Thee”) — and the events that are happening on The Vampire Diaries seem to have consequences on it’s spin-off.

With the Other Side disintegrating thanks to the Travelers on TVD, one already-dead baddie is going to wreak havoc on our favorite New Orleans folk: Mikael Mikaelson (Sebastian Roché). Yikes!

“Greetings, boy,” we hear Mikael tell Klaus (Joseph Morgan) in what we would assume to be a dream (read: nightmare).

Klaus isn’t very pleased with the turn of events, saying, “My father is literally mocking me from beyond the grave. The spirit world is crumbling.” We have to admit, if Mikael was torturing us in dream sequences, we’d be worried too!

But Klaus isn’t the only one having nightmares of Mikael. We also see Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) experiencing some trauma, with it looking like Mikael is biting her neck. “I’m dreaming,” she says. “This is a nightmare.”

That’s when Mikael says something that makes us pretty terrified: “On the contrary, this is very real.” What? How? Why?

If you need more proof that this encounter is totally real, the last image we see is of Hayley on the ground, covered in blood. And then we hear her screaming. Things are looking pretty grim.
