In our humble opinion, The Originals delivered their best episode to-date with last night’s Season 1 finale — Season 1, Episode 22 (“From a Cradle to a Grave”) — and the ratings seem to agree.

According to Zap2it, the Vampire Diaries spin-off snagged a 0.9 in the key 18-49 demo with 2.06 million viewers tuning in to see Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) deal with their baby drama. What’s more important? These ratings aren’t even accounting for the fact that the finale was preempted by a baseball game in New York City and Hartford, which means these numbers should hopefully adjust up later — huzzah!

While The Originals saw a 50 percent increase from last week’s series low, they finally edged out Glee in the timeslot, demolishing the FOX dramedy’s Season 5 finale — Season 5, Episode 20 (“The Untitled Rachel Berry Project”). Glee only saw 1.92 million viewers and a 0.6 in the target demo — a new series low — and they weren’t preempted!

We’re thrilled that ratings for The Originals saw an increase with the climactic conclusion — especially given the fact that Rebekah (Claire Holt) made her epic return to take Klaus and Hayley’s baby away from the dangers of New Orleans. There probably wasn’t a dry eye in the houses of the 2 million plus folks that tuned in — it was perfection.

Are you glad the ratings were so good for the finale? Are you shocked that they beat Glee? Hit the comments and let us know!
