It was not a good time to be a witch in last night’s season finale of The Originals. Genevieve, Monique, and Abigail all died. (That’s what you get for trying to sacrifice a baby!) But the witches will be rebuilding their presence in Season 2 — and we’re not just talking about the newly-resurrected Esther.

According to E! Online, Season 2 of The Originals will introduce a new witch character to New Orleans: Lenore. (Such a good witch name!) According to the site, Lenore is a “salt-of-the-Earth witch” who will make her initial appearance in Season 2, Episode 3 as Klaus’ “new foe.” Word to the wise: that never ends well for the foe.

As is The Originals way, Lenore won’t be the only new character standing against Klaus in Season 2. We’ll also be introduced to Kaleb, “a paranormal psychologist, who (surprise, surprise!) is not a fan of the Mikaelson family.” Will he and Lenore be working together or will they be separated as part of the witch and human communities, respectively? Both factions seriously need to up their game in Season 2 if they have any hope of recovering from the culling of their numbers in Season 1 — though the witches have a considerable advantage what with Mikaelson matriarch Esther and one of her sons back in the fold.

Also on the docket for a Season 2 introduction: rocker Gia, who is drawn to the French Quarter because of New Orlean’s music scene. (Because, unless you’re into parties heavy on the massacres, it isn’t for the friendly neighbors.) Though we’re not sure which faction the “beautiful, soulful, edgy rocker girl” represents, we’re sure she’ll get pulled into this show’s supernatural shenanigans before too long. We can’t wait!

How do you think these new characters will come into play in Season 2? Sound off in the comments below!
