Consider us peeved. After a stellar freshman season, The Originals was unfairly left off the list of nominees for the 2014 Teen Choice Awards that were released today, June 17. When it came to the Choice TV Show: Fantasy/Sci-Fi category, we kept checking and checking for the CW series to be listed — to no avail.

Season 1 of The Originals chronicled the epic return of the Mikaelson family — Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies), and Rebekah (Claire Holt) — as they returned to New Orleans. Klaus was hellbent on taking back the city that he and his family once called home, but he found many enemies waiting to stop him, from witches to his former protégé Marcel (Charles Michael Davis).

Adding to the drama, Klaus also struggled to keep Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and his hybrid baby, Hope, alive during the power struggle going on in the French Quarter. What at first seemed like a simple supernatural war quickly evolved into backstabbing and constant killing. The epic finale delivered one of the best finales the CW has ever seen and got us super excited for Season 2 — which makes us even more upset that the show didn’t score a nomination.

So who did get nominated in the category? That honor belongs to The Vampire Diaries, Once Upon a Time, Sleepy Hollow, Teen Wolf, and Arrow. Yeah, so we’re still upset that The Originals was passed over, but looking at that spectacular group of shows, the blow is slightly lessened.

The 2014 Teen Choice Awards air on Sunday, August 10, at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
