It sounds like this might be the final nail in the coffin for Rebekah Mikaelson on The Originals — at least for the time being. After leaving the show a little more than midway through Season 1, actress Claire Holt has booked a new gig over at NBC for Aquarius. Read on for more details!

According to Deadline, the 26-year-old Aussie has been cast on the upcoming event series as Officer Charmain Tully, a gorgeous-yet-tough cop who just wants some respect in the male-dominated LAPD circa 1967. Pretty different from playing perhaps the sassiest Original vampire, isn’t it?

Claire will be playing opposite David Duchovny — who plays the cop who investigates the Charles Manson and the Manson family before their infamous murder spree. She’ll also be appearing alongside some other famous faces including Gaius Charles (Grey’s Anatomy), fellow CW alums Grey Damon (Star-Crossed) and Michaela McManus (The Vampire Diaries), and Game of Thrones’ Gethin Anthony.

But don’t think this means Claire is done with The Originals just yet. Not only is she very much present in the trailer for Season 2, but executive producer Julie Plec has even confirmed that we’ll see her “at least once in the first three episodes.” On top of that, the Powers That Be have made it perfectly clear that Claire is always welcome to return.

At least we now know where we can expect to see Claire pop up next on the small screen! Consider our DVRs already set!
