Britt Robertson fears the reaper in this promo shot from The CW.
There are only a few more weeks until The Secret Circle once again casts a spell on us, and we’re counting down the days until the January 5th premiere! Will Jake (Chris Zylka) boat back into Chance Harbor? Will Adam (Thomas Dekker) finally go up a pants size? And will Faye’s (Phoebe Tonkin) childhood self be back for more creepy lurking?
According to TSC executive producer Andrew Miller, we’re in for a doozie of season, starting with Cassie’s (Britt Robertson) transformation into a black magic woman.
"Cassie's quest to understand dark magic will pit members of the Circle on different sides of that issue," Andrew tells Zap2it. "Some people in the circle feel they're more deserving of these dark gifts than Cassie."
Hmmm, some people like the power-hungry Faye? There’s no stopping this girl’s quest for solo magic, and now she has a helping hand – and a hunky one at that! Friday Night Lights cutie, Grey Damon, is entering the fray as a mysterious manwitch who Faye befriends, but don’t get the wrong idea; these two are platonic! "We're not really bringing him in to be a love interest," Andrew explains. "He's got some danger to him. He's coming in from a place outside the Circle, but he has his own links in the supernatural world. The ability to give certain people the kind of things they want that they've been unable to achieve on their own."
The bad witch and her loyal sidekick hatch a supernatural scheme in this promo shot for The Secret Circle Season 1, Episode 4: "Heather"
Meanwhile, Melissa (Jessica Parker Kennedy) will continue to have the worst life ever. "There's no one more fun to throw bad news at then Jessica Parker Kennedy," Miller jokes. "It's just gripping to watch, so obviously, we're finding ways to make her life worse with every episode. We've got an episode coming up where she tries to be happy and go to a dance, and then we just throw her in a sh*t hole again. She can take anything. There's a really cool storyline for her that starts emerging that of course I won't tell you anything about."
We can’t wait for Melissa’s tragic life to unfold, but we’re really holding our breaths for Cassie – who’s transformation from good to bad promises to be off-the-hook! "She goes very far [into the dark side]," Andrew says. "What's fun about the transition is that Jake comes in with vengeance on his mind and the idea that Chris Zylka as an actor helped us cultivate was – well, how angry can you really be when you're looking into Britt Robertson's sweet eyes? She broke him down. Then in Episode 10, she goes to a darkness that is so powerful and exciting.”
So, how will the delicate and sensitive Adam handle Cassie’s new personality? "Diana (Shelley Hennig) has pushed away from him now because of that whole 'written in the stars' thing with Cassie, and now that writing in the stars is becoming even brighter,” Andrew explains. “Without Diana, Adam is really going to have to reconcile his feelings for Cassie. He's going to have to man up."
Sigh, better buy a deep-cut V-neck, Adam!
