UPDATE: Call us crazy, but we are still hoping The Secret Circle might get picked up by another network, but as each month passes since the show's cancellation, our hope grows just a little smaller. Are you also still recovering from the traumatizing news that The Secret Circle wasn't renewed for a second season? Bring back Jake's V-neck!

Sadly, The Secret Circle didn't garner a large enough viewership to keep The CW interested — despite the fact that it had a great time slot behind its sister show, The Vampire Diaries. Though TSC started out strong(ish), its ratings declined steadily until the end of the season. Its final episode on May 10 brought in 1.28 million viewers, a drop from TVD’s 2.53 million.

Fans are particularly upset that Nikita and Hart of Dixie were renewed (as they had comparable ratings), but rumor has it that Nikita has a strong fan base overseas, and apparently swarms of fan-girls watch Hart of Dixie online.

The CW also cancelled Sarah Michelle Gellar's show, Ringer tol help make room for their five pick up shows next season: Arrow (based on Green Arrow), The Carrie Diaries (a prequel to Sex and the City), Cult (a meta crime drama), Beauty and The Beast (a modern-day retelling of the classic story), and First Cut (a medical dramz).

Sounds like a fun group of newbies, but nothing will replace The Secret Circle in our hearts. Sob!
