Same author, same producer, same network, AND airing on the same night? There is totally going to be a crossover between The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle, right… right? Not so fast, says Executive Producer Kevin Williamson.

"They're two different worlds," Kevin told fans at The Secret Circle panel at Comic-Con 2011 in July. "They're from the same novelist, but the worlds don't intersect. […] This is a brand-new story."

Sure, both shows feature pretty awesome witches (The Secret Circle boasts an entire coven, while Bonnie represents the magic-makers on The Vampire Diaries), but The Secret Circle won't ride the coattails of its famous big sister. "We're trying to keep the shows separate enough to where they can stand alone but still have that same vibe," said Britt Robertson (Cassie).

Kevin assured fans that there is room to love both shows. "If you like The Vampire Diaries, this is a show you will enjoy just as well," he said.
