Molly Ringwald Will Executive Produce and Star in New ‘80s-Inspired Lifetime Drama
Molly Ringwald made a name for herself in popular John Hughes films, and she’s going back to ‘80s roots in her new Lifetime drama.
The Secret Life of the American Teenager star is currently developing a TV show that “centers on a woman who returns to her hometown with two kids and confronts the social issues of her past, including the mean girls of her high school days,” Variety reports.
Given that her characters in Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, and Sixteen Candles were all in high school in the ‘80s, the timing lines up for her to basically “reprise” any of her former roles — especially since the site reports the main character is “evocative of the type of persona [she] rose to fame playing.”
In addition to playing the main character, Molly will also executive produce. While no other details have surfaced yet, we’re hoping she’ll bring on some of her Secret Life co-stars!
