It’s time for Shailene Woodley to break out the hair dye — she’s confirmed to play Mary Jane Watson in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

But don’t get too excited yet. According to The Hollywood Reporter, although the Secret Life of the American Teenager star “just booked the coveted role of Mary Jane in the Spider-Man sequel,” it is “proving to be only a very small part in Amazing Spider-Man 2.”

Don’t fret, Secret Lifers — there will be plenty more of Shailene in the third installment of the Spider-Man reboot trilogy. Unfortunately, this good news comes with a price — and a spoiler, so proceed with caution.

THR reports that Mary Jane’s role ‘blossoms into an integral lead for the planned third movie as the studio seeks to build to the classic ‘Death of Gwen Stacy’ story.” In short? Emma Stone is out and Shailene is swooping in as Peter Parker’s new love.

Honestly, we just can’t wait to see her as a redhead!
