Shailene Woodley Wins 2012 MTV Movie Award for Breakthrough Performance (Over Hunger Games and Bridesmaids stars!)
Secret Life of the American Teenager star Shailene Woodley won for Breakthrough Performance Sunday night at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.
Shailene was honored for starring opposite George Clooney in The Descendants. She had stiff competition from Melissa McCarthy in Bridesmaids, Elle Fanning in Super 8, Liam Hemsworth in The Hunger Games and Rooney Mara in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
Accepting the award, Shailene said she was nervous and sweating. "I met and had so many profound relationships on this movie. George and [director] Alexander [Payne] taught me how to be a better human being. And someone that I haven't even mentioned throughout this entire process is Hawaii. Hawaii completely changed my life. It completely opened my eyes to the profund ecosystem around us. So this is for Hawaii and for all those artists out there."
Congrats, Shailene!
