When we last saw Switched at Birth’s Bay, her boyfriend, Emmett, had done the unthinkable by cheating on her with her brother’s girlfriend. Talk about betrayal!

Wetpaint Entertainment recently caught up with portrayer Vanessa Marano, and she revealed how Bay will be handling this devastating blow — and what Emmett’s cheating means for the future of their relationship.

Check it out below!

Wetpaint Entertainment: Switched at Birth returns on Sept. 3. What's going on with Bay when you come back?

Vanessa Marano: A lot's going on! Bay's getting back into street art, and Daphne starts a new relationship with a super hot guy.

Who is this mystery guy?

I don't know if I'm allowed to say — you've got to figure it out after the first episode. But, yes, I am getting a street partner in crime: A lovely actress named Tania Raymond. So there's a lot that goes down, but she’s kind of a bad influence. And obviously, Bay’s in a horrible place because her boyfriend cheated on her.

How does that evolve?

Well, the first few episodes, she is not happy — because he's a schmuck. I think a big theme this season is learning to forget. Maybe not forget, but learning to forgive.

So, there’s hope for Bay and Emmett?

Well, I don't want to say. I personally don't think that you should give someone a second chance after they cheat on you, but there may be hope for friendship. Also, [it was] being cheated on with Toby's girlfriend, so a brother and sister are completely betrayed by two loved ones. Both of them, I think, really do learn the value of forgiveness.
