Grace becomes jealous of all the attention surrounding Amy; Anne and Ashley return from Europe.

News spreads fast regarding Amy's wedding date, along with a rumor about Anne.

George steps in to help when Amy is warned that she is in danger of failing summer school.

Kathleen hopes a bribe will entice Grace to talk with Jacob; Dylan attempts to bond with Adrian.

Ben and Dylan go on their first official date, and Tom gets into trouble with the law.

George and Kathleen bond at the “beach,” and Dylan and her friends join Ben at school. 

Not knowing all that went on between them, Amy, Lauren and Madison’s dads arrange a dinner for their daughters in hopes they can work out their disagreements. 

George is convinced Anne has feelings for someone close to him, and Grace is anxious for her mother’s return. 

Amy decides to go to summer school instead of work, while Dylan and Ben, after getting caught by their parents, are forbidden from seeing each other.

Ben and Dylan grow closer; Amy confesses she is in no hurry to get married.

In the Secret Life of the American Teenager summer finale, Grant High School holds its graduation ceremonies, and seniors Ricky and Jack prepare to make speeches. At a raucous graduation party, Jack tries to win Grace's heart back, while Adrian schemes to get Ricky into bed again. Amy begs Ricky to go to a party on graduation night, not knowing he has other plans in mind for the two of them. As Ricky’s end of high school draws near, he’s faced with a big responsibility — class valedictorian — but will he accept the honor? Amy is obsessed with trying to get Ricky to propose and becomes much more attentive to his every need to show how she’d be a great wife. Ricky is well aware of her plan and decides to enjoy every pampered moment, as he has a little plan of his own. Meanwhile, Adrian is upset that Dante never called after their date and ends up meeting his handsome brother. Ricky grows increasingly upset with Amy for going through his phone, and Amy feels guilty, only to later find out it seems that everyone does it. Unable to trust each other, Ricky decides he needs a little space and time away from Amy, but finds a former foster “brother” at his door needing his help. Meanwhile, even though she believes her plan to get Ricky back is working, Adrian decides to go on a date with Dante (Bow Wow), who is a friend of Grace’s boyfriend. Quickly, she discovers it is not Ben she wants, but Ricky, in turn asking Ben to move out and end their marriage – but will Ben go along with the plan? Knowing what Adrian is after, Amy cannot help but feel threatened and begins to doubt Ricky’s ability to stay faithful. Ricky’s hopes of attending a local college in order to stay close to home with Amy and John are shattered when the admissions counselor turns out to be a former flame – who gives him quite the unexpected ultimatum. Meanwhile, Adrian has decided to return to school, unbeknownst to Ben, who has moved out. As the stares and whispers surround her, Adrian stays strong until she confronts Ben with an emotional breakdown that could turn her secret plan into a successful one. Adrian insists she is feeling much better and decides to make a clean start by donating all the items in the baby’s room to the church nursery, thinking it will please Ben. Although her intentions were good, Ben is infuriated when he discovers the empty room and cannot hold his rage toward Adrian any longer. After an emotional blow up, Adrian is left crushed once again, while Ben’s grief threatens to lead him down a dangerous path. Meanwhile, Jack walks in on Grace and her new boyfriend Daniel kissing, and Jack reveals that he’s not over her, making Grace wonder if she still has feelings for Jack. Amy becomes increasingly upset when Ricky insists John is not sick. Despite his feelings, Ricky agrees to take John to the hospital, where he makes the mistake of calling Amy his wife. As her emotions lean toward excitement, Ricky becomes withdrawn, causing their fight to escalate. With their arguing starting to affect their son, the two must re-examine if living together is the right thing to do. Meanwhile, Ben continues to look for a way out of his marriage, and Adrian may have just given him one. In a test to see if Ben still loves her, Adrian tells him she wants to go to cosmetology school in New York. Adrian is in a deep depression, refusing to leave the house, while Ben struggles to keep it all together after losing their baby. Ben has returned to school, but is devastated and angry about the situation. Ben asks Amy to visit Adrian at home to help her through this difficult time. Meanwhile, Amy feels a little guilty for being so happy in her own life – she’s in love with Ricky and their relationship seems to be growing stronger by the day. Adrian and Ben prepare for the imminent arrival of their daughter. When Adrian experiences discomfort, the couple – believing she is about to go into labor – are instructed by their doctor to leave for the hospital. Ben and Adrian agree not to call anyone until they know more, but as word spreads she is in the hospital, family and friends gather there to share the joyous occasion. Adrian loves all the attention, which upsets Amy. Ricky invites Amy to a romantic night away to show her how much he truly loves her. Grace accompanies Adrian shopping for wedding dresses and helps find something that works with her growing baby bump. Amy reluctantly agrees to co-host a baby shower with Grace for Adrian, since they threw one for her. Ricky is becoming increasingly impatient with Amy, as she continues to hold him at bay in taking their relationship to the next level. Meanwhile, Grant and Grace set up a meeting of the parents, and Grace is surprised to learn that Grant's parents are a May/December romance. Dominic Chianese guest stars as Grant's father, Vic, with Shawnee Smith as Grant's mother, Carrie. Read the full recap here.

Ricky is still reeling from Amy asking him to marry her; he doesn't even want to think about getting married until they've both graduated from high school. Amy seems happy because, although he didn't say yes, he also didn't say no - and their relationship seems to be stronger than ever. Meanwhile, Adrian and Ben are shopping for condos, but they can't quite agree on one they like. Adrian and Amy end up sharing some advice about the respective men in their lives and how to get what they want from them. Grace tells her mother she plans on sleeping over at Grant's, while George thinks that he and Ashley both need a friend. George finds a fellow homeschooled study buddy for Ashley, and asks Nora out on a date. But their "date" is interrupted when they run into her girlfriend at the restaurant. Read the full recap here.

Amy is upset and a little jealous that Adrian and Ben are getting married. George is feeling lonely without Anne, so he visits Ricky and ends up meeting Nora, whom he finds attractive. Adrian is in full wedding planning mode and driving everyone crazy - including Ben, who wants the marriage, but not a big wedding. While Amy and Ashley are away visiting Anne for the weekend, Amy is fixated on the wedding and thinks that she and Ricky should be the ones getting married, not Adrian and Ben. Meanwhile, Ricky tries to convince Ben not to marry Adrian, to take the pressure off himself. But Amy rushes back home to surprise Ricky with a question of her own. Read the full recap here.

Ricky convinces his birth mom, Nora, to move in with his foster parents, who lay out some ground rules for their home. Amy helps convince Ricky that he should introduce their son, John, to Nora, but when he finds out a shocking revelation about his mother, he might change his mind. Ashley struggles with home schooling, and George is trying to figure out how to be a good father to his teenage girls. Ben and Adrian realize their true love for each other, and their parents discuss the possibility of their children getting married. In the season opener, summer vacation is over and everyone is back at school and dealing with relationships that are becoming increasingly complicated. Amy has decided she would like to take her relationship to the next level with Ricky. Ricky, meanwhile, returns to his apartment after an anxious day at the clinic to find his birth mom out of prison and looking for a place to stay. Adrian and Ben are excited and anxious to find out if they’re having a boy or a girl. Beverley Mitchell (7th Heaven) guest stars as the new guidance counselor, Katelyn O’Malley, and one of her first visits is from Ashley, who decides she wants to be home schooled.
