‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8: Who Is Seline?

The Vampire Diaries is adding a new face for Season 8.

Kristen Gutoskie, who currently plays Katie Frank on Julie Plec’s short-lived series Containment, has booked herself a one-way ticket to Mystic Falls as Seline.

The new addition is described as a “warm, nurturing nanny of two young kids by day, and a small-town girl trying to find her place in a dangerous world by night,” according to Deadline.

“Bonded to her new ‘family’ in ways she can’t explain, Seline will fight desperately to protect the ones she loves,” the summary of the recurring character continues.

Based on these details, here are three things we can assume about the newbie:

1. She’s caring for the Gemini twins. The obvious hint here is Seline will be caring for Alaric’s twins with Jo/Caroline, Josie and Lizzie. Most likely the former history professor is going to be helping the gang save Damon and Enzo, meaning his magic-syphoning kiddos will need babysitting.

2. She’s probably a love interest for Alaric. Any woman who gets close to Alaric these days seems to turn into a love interest for the unluckiest man in the love department. Should Seline be destined to be the next one charmed by Matt Davis and his handsomeness, it’s time to start a prayer circle.

3. She’s hiding something. All characters introduced on TVD have something else going on below the surface. Is she a witch? Is she some other supernatural being? Is she somehow related to whatever was inside The Armory’s vault? Only time will tell.
