Elena and Naked Damon! Season 3 Scoop From the Vampire Diaries Panel at Comic-Con 2011
The Vampire Diaries stars and producers took the hot seats on a panel at Comic-Con 2011 in San Diego last night, and plenty of spoilery Season 3 details were spilled. Here are all the details you need to know right now:
1. The scene heard ‘round the world
And no, we’re not talking about that kiss from the season finale. The panel opened with a “sizzle reel” of scenes from the series — including one new scene from Season 3 where we see Elena walking in on a soaped up and very naked Damon. Yes, you read that right...
2. Katherine had it right
"It's okay to love both of them," Executive Producer Kevin Wiliamson responded when asked about Elena being torn between the two Salvatore brothers. "Katherine seems to know more about caring about both Salvatore brothers," Executive Producer Julie Plec added.
3. Bieber fever
When asked about this outlook on casting, Kevin noted that "casting a star doesn't interest me." "Stunt casting is not something we excel at. I like to write characters and find the right actors for the role," he said. Nina Dobrev then spilled that Justin Bieber wanted to appear on The Vampire Diaries. Say what?!
4. Jeremy’s ghostly girlfriends
"It's not just a supernatural... consequence, it's an emotional consequence," Julie says of the return of Jeremy’s old girfriends Vicki and Anna. "The first thing that happens is that he gets visitations from his first and second loves. Not only are we going to be able to tell a ghost story out of all this but also a romantic story as well.”
5. Damon’s down
"Damon's kind of not too happy bout the way his life has turned out this season," Ian Somerhalder said of Damon’s outlook at the beginning of next season.
6. More flashbacks to come?
Paul Wesley said he hopes we can all see the origin of The Ripper. "The Ripper Stefan thing is very interesting,” he said. “Hopefully we get to do that flashback.”
7. He’s ba-ack
Is Elijah gone for good? “Oh no!” said Kevin. Julie only said that “there is no joy in the world without Daniel Gilles,” who plays Elijah. True that.
8. The unlikely duo
When asked what really motivated Klaus to team up with Stefan, Joseph Morgan responded: "I think we're going to find a lot more about the motive and history of him taking Stefan this season."
9. Where has Katherine gone off to now?
Julie jokes, "She's in Hawaii, waiting for the very special Hawaiian episode maybe."
10. RIP
Tissue alert! The panel was asked whose deaths were the hardest to take:
Candice Accola (Caroline): "Kayla Ewell, because it was the first big death."
Paul Wesley: "Everyone's died... I think I'm mourning my own death the most... I thought the Rose death was very emotional."
Kevin Williamson: "Kayla. Vicky... And then Aunt Jenna was very hard."
Ian Somerhalder: "I remember reading when Vicky dies, that was heartbreaking."
Julie Plec: "I still get hate mail for killing Mason Lockwood."
Nina Dobrev: "When Sara Canning and when Kayla left..."
Joseph Morgan: "I think Sara Canning dying was really sort of sad... I guess the most surprising was Jeremy. I mean, again?"
