“What happens once I give you the moonstone?” Mason asks Katherine in the preview for this week’s Vampire Diaries episode, titled “Plan B.” “We live happily ever after,” she replies.
Yeah, right. We know that’s not going to happen. Nothing’s ever what it seems with Kitty Kat. And the next episode will be no exception. “Katherine is up to no good times a thousand,” executive producer Julie Plec said when we asked her for details on the episode. “She is up to probably the worst things she’s ever done since she got to town.”
Worse than killing Caroline? Worse than condemning 26 of her brethren to death? Teases Plec, “Worse.” While the Plec won’t reveal what Katherine does this week, she will say whom. Apparently the show will open with Kat and Uncle Mason showing a little post-hookup skin. “In a bed. Bare skin,” Plec says.

Now that we know Katherine and Mason are in cahoots, Plec says we’ll also start to get answers about Mason: why he’s working with Lady Piece, what he wants from her, and vice versa. Apparently, it’s not at all what we think. On the same tip, Plec says, “Damon’s reaction to learning that Katherine and Mason are together is also surprising. How he handles it. What he does about it.”
Speaking of the sexy Salvatores, Damon and his lil bro Stefan will also have to figure out how to counter Katherine’s latest attack — and they’ll turn, once again, to our favorite witch Bonnie for help. “We get to see Bonnie starting to come around in a way that she hasn’t come around this season to the vampires,” says Plec.
Even Jeremy will get in on the action when he refuses to heed to Elena’s command that he stay out of all their supernatural business. “We get to see Jeremy sort of take a stand,” says Plec. “Coming off [last week’s] episode, he’s got information and he wants to use it. He wants to be part of the big plan with the boys and with Elena. And of course Elena’s not going to want to let that happen. But we’re going to see Jeremy reach out to Damon and ask to be let in.”

Good for Jeremy. After all, you can’t let a boy have a ring that makes him virtually invincible then expect him to skip out on all the events where he would need it. Just sayin’.
Meanwhile, back at the Salvatore mansion, Sheriff Liz Forbes’ forced captivity will give her and Caroline some quality bonding time. “Next week is my favorite mother-daughter episode for Sheriff Forbes and Caroline,” says Plec. “They get to learn a lot about each other — stuff that they haven’t had a chance to learn. And it’s actually sweet and wonderful and kind of tragic when all is said and done.”
So does that mean Caroline will not be moving out of the house as some of us expected? “No, not anytime soon,” says Plec. But you know how things work in Mystic Falls. You never know. What we do know is that this is shaping up to be one fantastic episode!
