From Hawaii to France to Brazil,  Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) has been continent hopping since Season 3 of The Vampire Diaries wrapped. He recently spent some time in the Philippines, where he spoke to The Buzz about being an actor and being surrounded by love.

In case you couldn’t guess, Ian loves his life. “I’m the luckiest person I know … I get to be in amazing places, meet amazing people, and be a part of something positive,” he told the interviewer. Obviously! Did you see the list of destinations he’s visited in the past couple months?

Yet Ian has had to give up a few things to follow his dream. He says, “I missed the whole high school experience; I missed the whole college experience. You sacrifice one thing to get another.” Plus, it’s only a matter of time before a university awards the do-gooder an honorary degree. 


The crafty Ian dodged questions about his love life, but he was more than happy to philosophize about the concept in general. “It’s everything in my life… but love comes in every way, shape, and form.”
