Ian Somerhalder: There’s a “50-50 Chance” Elena Is in Love With Damon on The Vampire Diaries

Are you a betting man (or woman)? If so, we’re not sure what you’ll make of these odds. In a recent interview with TV Guide, The Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder said of Damon and Elena (Nina Dobrev): "I think there's a 50-50 chance that this girl is in love with him."

Well, her feelings either are a result of the sire bond or they’re not — right? Of course, Elena seems certain that she loves Damon, and the two definitely had some emotional moments before she turned into a vampire. It’s all so complicated, but it’s not as if Ian is rooting against Delena.

"That romantic in us wants to believe that would be the case — that they would be able to work themselves out, but then there's this thing called story on The Vampire Diaries, and it's very difficult to let people be happy for very long,” he says.
