Stefan Looks at Katherine in Season 3, Episode 4: “Disturbing Behavior”

We recently learned Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) have a rich (and bloody) history, but it’s not just their characters who have ties in the past. Wesley and Morgan recently chatted with TV Guide and revealed the deliciously handsome duo actually knew each other months before Klaus was cast.

“We met through friends and immediately had a good rapport. Joseph’s a really cool guy,” Wesley said, adding that it was he who asked The Vampire Diaries’ executive producer Julie Plec to consider Morgan for the coveted role. (Apparently Wesley pulls some weight in the writer’s room, because six months later Morgan got the call from casting and nailed it!)

On screen, Klaus and Stefan might not be quite as chummy, but the Original Vampire has made it clear he wants Stefan as his partner in crime. And — as much as we hate to say it — Stefan even seems to be enjoying himself sometimes.

“I’m so excited to see how far Stefan will go,” Morgan said. “I wonder whether he’ll surpass Klaus in his evilness.” Chilling thought.

But Wesley said that though he loves playing the more badass Stefan, he thinks the “writers still have the capability of redeeming” his character. (Julie Plec thinks so too.)

After these last few episodes (R.I.P., Andie Star!), we’re not so sure, but we’re definitely hoping it won’t take decades for him to recover from this Ripper binge.
