Born on to a Liberian father and a Russian-Jewish mother, Vampire Diaries star Kat Graham has got quite the diverse family background. For 40 years, her grandfather served as a UN Ambassador in The Netherlands, Kenya, Romania, and Sweden — which prompted her father to give up his job in the music industry to work as a UN journalist in Geneva. That’s where Kat was born.

After her parents divorced when she was five, Kat was raised in her mother’s Jewish religion. Though she spent most of her childhood in Los Angeles, Kat speaks Hebrew, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.
