Why Ian might look familiar: Ian’s beautifully sculpted cheekbones and piercing blue eyes have pushed product for Ralph Lauren, Guess, Esprit, Mossimo, Versace, Dolce & Gabana, and many other fashion houses. He also played Boone Carlyle, the cutest passenger on the doomed Oceanic flight 815 on ABC’s hit Lost. (And, really, you’d have to be a sequestered nun to not know that.) Also a special note for Ian Somerhalder devotees: You lose your Team Ian membership if you don’t also recognize Somerhalder as Hamilton Fleming, the guy who fell for a girl pretending to be a guy on the short-lived Dawson’s Creek spin-off Young Americans.
A little something extra you ought to know about Ian: A self-described “clean freak,” Ian regularly gets all bendy and twisty in public (in yoga class). The red wine aficionado’s also a cutie with a cause. After BP’s oil rig disaster dumped millions of gallons of crude oil off the coast of his Louisiana hometown, Ian rushed home to help clean up. In addition to shooting a public service announcement, he volunteered at a local animal shelter bathing oil-slicked pelicans and he’s put pressure on his Hollywood peers to crack open their checkbooks for the BP oil spill. “I never talk about politics, but right now is a time to be angry and sad,” he told the Los Angeles Times newspaper. “This [The Louisiana coastline] is ground zero right now. This place is going to need money; that is the bottom line.”
