The Voice Season 2: Wetpaint’s Pick for Best Performance of the Blind Auditions: Round 3 on February 13, 2012

'Twas a wonderful night for fans of The Voice! Round 3 of Blind Auditions brought 12 new competitors into the fold, practically doubling the headcount over night.

Sarah Golden opened the show with a (truly) blind audition and a rousing country-style rendition of Lady Gaga’s “You and I.” It was pretty solid, but if this were American Idol, they probably would have told her she just didn’t seem like she was giving 100 percent, dawg.

Pip Andrews (simply known as Pip?) chose the song we would probably least expect him to sing — outside of any kind of Limp Bizkit cover — and slayed it. “House of the Rising Sun” was a strange pick for a kid who was born 30 years after its original release, but clearly he understood its subtleties, achieving the only Full House of the night. (“Full House,” in this context, will refer to instances when all four judges turn their chairs for an auditioner. Count it.) Props, Pip, props.

The Erins two, Willett and Martin, dusted off some Jackson 5 and revived “Hey There Delilah" by Plain White T’s, respectively. Not too shabby, but we’ll be curious to see where they each go with their distinctive sounds.

Geoff McBride, James Massone, Katrina Parker, and Chris Cauley all earned spots on teams, but truth be told, they didn’t really float our boat. However, we remain open to the possibility that they may blow our minds in the future.

Yes, yes, they were all fair competitors, but only one may claim the coveted trophy: Best of The Night. And last night, that title clearly belonged to …

Jordis Unga! There was nothing left of “Maybe I’m Amazed” by the time she finished it. It’s not an easy song to sing, as any karaoke bar owner will tell you, but her broad voice with a touch of rasp was perfectly suited for it.

We hear she’s been on a few shows pre-Voice, but she just might win this one.
