The Voice Season 3 Finale: Our Dream Song Choices For the Top 3!

On scripted shows, we often dream-cast guest stars, but for singing competitions like The Voice, we daydream about potential song choices.

Though contestants have knocked it out of the park with their own selections this season, there are a few tunes we’re crossing our fingers for the Top 3 to tackle in tonight’s performance episode. Notably, if Trevin Hunte wasn’t eliminated last week, we really wanted him to sing “I Believe I Can Fly,” but we can’t live in the past.

Check out our dream picks below:

Terry McDermott

The Scottish rocker wowed us with The Beatles’ “Let It Be,” so we’d love to see him tackle other rock music from across the pond. The first song that came to mind was U2’s “Beautiful Day,” with which Terry could easily give Bono a run for his money. Also, hearing him sing Oasis’ “Wonderwall” would probably make us weep, but it would resonate with both him and the audience.

We’ve also compared him to Keane since he first hit the Voice stage, and he could blow us out of the water with “Somewhere Only We Know.” If he wanted to go with American music, The Killers’ “Read My Mind” would fit him like a glove, and since the band is performing on tomorrow night’s finale, it’s perfect timing, too.

Cassadee Pope

Though she’s been playing up her crossover country artist side, Cassadee has pop roots. We’ve seen her sing Avril Lavigne, Michelle Branch, and Kelly Clarkson, but something a bit softer that she can add her country and pop-punk twists to could give her enough of an edge to take home the Voice title.

Cassadee could deliver Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years” or Paramore’s “The Only Exception” with the heartfelt emotion we’ve come to expect from her, or lend her newfound country love to Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now.” And while Taylor Swift’s “State of Grace” is slightly out of her range, we’d love to see her twist on it.

Nicholas David

Although we’ve given the other contestants a wide range of songs, we’d love to see Nicholas stick to his roots in the finale — aka “baby-making music” like Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together.” Soulful tunes like Ray Charles’s “Georgia On My Mind,Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World,” or Nat King Cole’s “Unforgettable would also work perfectly. While we’re sure that he could tackle any number of new artists or different genres, for Nick, we say, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”
