This famous Canadian singer-songwriter, guitarist, record producer, and actress has won 16 Juno Awards, seven Grammy Awards, and has been nominated for two Golden Globe Awards.
Alanis debuted her self-titled album in the early ‘90s with the hits “Too Hot,” “Walk Away,” and “Feel Your Love.” She followed this album’s success with the release of her second album, Now Is The Time, which featured the singled “An Emotion Away,” “No Apologies,” and “(Change Is) Never a Waste of Time.”
The Canadian singer-songwriter caught her big international break with her album Jagged Little Pill. The album’s hit song “You Oughta Know” was well-received in America and led to a music video that saw a lot of playtime on MTV and MuchMusic.
Also on that album were hits “All I Really Want,” “Hand In My Pocket,” and her fourth and biggest hit, “Ironic.” These songs kept Jagged Little Pill on the Top 20 albums chart for over a year.
Alanis’ song “Uninvited” was featured on the soundtrack of the 1998 film City of Angels and won “Best Rock Song” and “Best Female Rock Vocal Performance” at the 1999 Grammy Awards.
The performer went on to produce albums Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, the live acoustic album Alanis Unplugged, Under Rug Swept, Feast on Scraps, So-Called Chaos, Jagged Little Pill Acoustic, The Collection, and Flavors of Entanglement. She is currently working on her eighth studio album.
She has also acted in hit TV shows like Sex and the City and Curb Your Enthusiasm. She played God in Kevin Smith’s controversial comedy Dogma, and reprised the role in Smith’s Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
Having performed on American Idol and The X Factor, Alanis is set to complete the Holy Trinity of reality music competitions with her role as a mentor for Team Adam on The Voice.
