On Monday, May 20, front runner Judith Hill took to the stage to sing one of the most emotional performances The Voice has seen. The former Michael Jackson backup singer struggled with the loss of her former mentor, and when coach Adam Levine suggested she sing an MJ song, she was cautious.

By the end of the performance, Judith was in tears. Billboard caught up with the singer after the show to see how she felt about honoring Michael.

"I'm glad I was able to celebrate him," Judith said. "I'm very sensitive about [anything Michael] but I'm glad Adam pushed me to do it."

The tribute helped her to move forward and her tears helped to humanize her in America’s eyes. But the toughest challenge is yet to come.

"Trying to figure out what to do next,” she said. “It's TV so it's not just the song. You have to have a fireworks moment."
