As the Top 6 faced off on last night’s live shows on The Voice 2013, each artist had two chances to impress America. And at this stage in the competition when we expect the best of the best, certain song choices from last night were total disappointments. But those duds made the stars shine so much brighter.

The collaboration between Michelle Chamuel and her coach Usher continues to be a highlight of every episode. These two clearly respect one another, which leads to great performances each week from the eccentric artist.

Both of Michelle’s song choices last night “Somewhere Only We Know” by Keane and “I Knew You Were Trouble” by Taylor Swift were the perfect picks for the pop rocker. It’s clear that this contestant is one of the hardest workers on the show, putting in the time to deliver high-energy and passionate performances each week.

When we first saw The Swon Brothers’s song list, there was a massive groan, but the Oklahoma boys managed to pull off two corny songs with their signature midwestern charm. Who would have thought that these two goofballs would be the first duo to go the finals?

The highlight of their performances was the overly appropriate “Okie From Muskogee,” but that may have been because we didn’t have to watch those embarrassing vaudeville dancers in the background.

The talent is intense, but anyone with ears knows that Sasha Allen destroyed the competition with both of her performances last night. In fact, picking between her two songs for best performance is our biggest challenge.

Nothing has been quite as sexy or fierce this season as the moment when Sasha ripped off her dress while singing Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats,” but the best performance of the night (and potentially the season) was her belt-happy rendition of Aretha Franklin’s “Ain’t No Way.”

The song is a classic, but hasn’t been overdone in the reality music world yet, making it fresh to many viewers. Sasha looked flawless in her yellow gown and her vocals destroyed any hope of competition.
