They may have lost the war, but The Swon Brothers certainly have their battle scars from The Voice Season 4. The Team Blake Shelton duo placed third in the June 18 finale behind runner up Michelle Chamuel and winner Danielle Bradbery.
When Clevver Music spoke to the brothers on the red carpet, Colton Swon revealed why the duo’s performance of “Celebrity” with Blake Shelton was so funny.
“Well at the end of the song [Blake] went like this [mimes guitar slam], gave it a big guitar, and he broke my finger! He broke my thumb,” he revealed. “It literally crushed the inside of my thumb and he knew it. He just looked down at me and said, ‘I broke your thumb, didn’t I?’ And I was like, yes, it hurts so bad. And then I gave the crowd a big thumbs up. So that’s why we were laughing.”
Ouch! Fortunately, it looks like Colton’s going to be just fine. And the brothers aren’t even sad to have come in third. In fact, they predicted the show’s outcome from the start.
“We all saw that coming,” Colton said. “And we’ve been telling Danielle since the blinds to be seeing that coming. She’s so sweet and I’m really genuinely happy for her. That girl’s got a heart of gold and she’s going to sell a lot of records.”
And though they didn’t take home the trophy, the Oklahoma natives got the chance to play with the legendary Bob Seger, which they called the “highlight of our lives.”
So what’s next?
“We’re going to go home and make do some laundry and then we’re going to go to Nashville and make a record,” Zach Swon joked.
“I won’t even do laundry, I’ve got to get to Nashville!” Colton replied.
