The best thing about this project is that Ush will be incorporating music from Voice pal Blake Shelton and his wife Miranda Lambert into this year’s display. Other featured artists include Jimi Hendrix, Rihanna, Kelly Clarkson, Sam Cooke, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Swedish House Mafia, Frank Sinatra, and Usher himself.
The “OMG” singer collaborated with the team at Macy’s for the show’s visual design, hoping to make it match his musical selections. The team is even coordinating a light show on the Empire State Building to match the singer’s score.
But pyrotechnics aside, Usher’s really excited to convey a patriotic message.
“I do understand what this is about. It’s our Independence Day,” he says in the promo for the fireworks show. “And to celebrate our country in a way that supports our independence and supports our individuality, that’s where I wanted to come through both musical and through the fireworks in the sky.”
You can catch Usher’s hard work on Thursday, July 4 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Will you watch? Tell us below!
