The August 2013 issue of Men’s Journal gives us an extra special treat with coverboy Blake Shelton. The country crooning stud opens up in his lengthy interview and manages to show just how down-to-earth he really is.

But on the topic of drinking, Blake hammed up his observations on his Voice co-star Adam Levine.

"I get frustrated with Adam because, to me, rock stars are supposed to be drunk all the time. But he's very healthy. He takes care of himself,” Blake told the magazine. “And it drives me crazy, because I want him to be more like me. Drunk all the time."

The “Honey Bee” singer is notorious for his drunken claims, but his mother Dorothy says his tweets and on-camera antics are all for show.

"He likes to make people think he's drunk, but I've never seen that boy drunk in my life," she told the magazine.

Blake Shelton never drunk? That’s like Christina Aguilera without bronzer!

The interview also talked about the more personal aspects of Blake’s marriage to country star Miranda Lambert. He even revealed the struggles he faced in his first marriage to childhood girlfriend Kaynette Gern.

"Looking back, it was just the wrong thing all around," he said of that first marriage. "I married my buddy."

But Blake’s family seems to be more supportive of his union with Miranda. They noted Miranda’s ability to co-write the hit song “Over You,” which documents Blake’s pain over the loss of his older brother, Richie.

"That's probably Miranda's doing," Blake’s sister told the magazine. "Getting him to show a little bit of a softer side, be more emotional. Not just be the funny guy all the time."

Personally we’re big fans of Blake and Miranda together. They are, after all, country music’s biggest power couple.
