Move aside, Ryan Seacrest. There’s a new top host in the world of entertainment and his empire has been building for much longer than the amount of time American Idol’s been on the air. That’s right, we’re talking about TRL legend, Carson Daly.

The 40-year-old has been a host on both TV and radio for close to two decades, and he’s not slowing down anytime soon.

On The Today Show this morning, Carson announced that he’s going to be appearing on the show in a permanent role working in the new studio’s social media space, The Orange Room.

Carson has made numerous appearances on The Today Show in the past few years, filling in for regular anchors and reporters. It makes sense considering his late-night show, Last Call With Carson Daly and the hit singing competition show The Voice are on the same network as the popular morning show.

The TRL alum will be stepping down from his role on Last Call, but will remain a producer and will likely have a hand in picking his successor. Carson will, however, be returning to The Voice this fall to host Season 5.

The blind auditions, battle rounds, and knockout rounds are all pre-taped and have been completed, but we’re very curious to see what happens when the live shows roll around this winter.

The Voice tapes live in Los Angeles from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET on Monday nights and for one hour on Tuesday nights. How then will Carson make it back to The Orange Room at Studio 1A in New York in time for the 7 a.m. ET start time of The Today Show?

That answer hasn’t been given yet, but there could be a lot of red eye planes involved, or maybe they could green screen him into the orange room. So. Many. Colors.
