In addition to watching some epic talent in last night’s premiere of The Voice 2013, we also had plenty of laughs when confident contestant Nic Hawk openly hit on his coach, Adam Levine.

The artist joked that he might not be able to be on Team Adam because the singer was just so good looking. We seriously can’t blame him!

So when Wetpaint Entertainment spoke with Nic the day after his audition aired, we had to ask him about his on-stage antics, and he admitted that they were planned.

“I kind of knew I had a plan for everyone when they turned around,” Nic said. “I ultimately, honestly was going to pick Cee Lo, but something told me that I just had to pick Adam. I really don’t think it was just good looks. It was honestly how he fought for me more in that situation.”

And not only is Nic confident with his sexuality, he wanted to make it clear from his blind audition that he was out and proud on The Voice.

“I wanted people to know I was gay from the start,” he said. “I didn’t want it to be a question, I didn’t want people to ever think about that. Yeah, it’s a part of me, but it’s not all of me.”

Though being transparent was important to Nic after his audition ended, the singer did admit that he was excited about the anonymity that came with the “blind” part of the audition.

“I’ve tried out for American Idol five times, and they obviously hated me,” he joked. “This show I honestly feel like it was my door. I’m the kind of person you look at and you don’t really expect the kind of voice to come out of me that does. For that alone, I kind of wanted people just to not know what I looked like. I just wanted to musically execute the song in exactly my style, and I feel like this show gave me the opportunity to do that.”
