We cannot deny that last night was a monolith of performances on the The Voice 2013 Season 5. Some of the biggest contenders from each coaches team went head-to-head in epic duets that literally left that audience and the coaches completely confused.
Of last night’s performances, there were clear standouts, including Team Adam Levine’s Tessanne Chin and Donna Allen singing “Next to Me” by Emeli Sandé. We totally enjoyed hearing Tessanne show off her vocal range, as well as Donna’s Tina Turner-esque rasp and grit.
Coming in a close second for u, was the performance that coach Christina Aguilera said was her favorite of the night — Team Cee Lo Green’s Anthony Paul and Caroline Pennell's duet of Justin Bieber’s “As Long as You Love Me.” While we could totally get behind the whole “whispering wind” sound of Caroline’s voice pitted against Anthony’s trained R&B melodies, we still thought that their performance wasn’t as great as our pick.
So, who do we think rocked it out last night? Hands down, the best performance went to Team Christina’s Amber Nicole and Timyra-Joi's duet to “Listen” by Beyonce. Not only did these two teenagers dig deep into their bags of vocal tricks, they gave a performance that rivaled King Bey herself!
Did we mention that this duo’s battle brought Xtina to tears? Tears, guys! We were pretty shocked that no one snatched up Timyra after Christina declared Amber the winner, but we’re totally happy that we were left with this memory of Timyra before she exited the show.
