ORIGINAL STORY (October 21, 2013, 8:55 a.m. PST):
The Voice judge Cee Lo Green will be cleared of charges he sexually assaulted a woman by slipping ecstasy into her drink, according to a report from TMZ. As for the felony drug charges the 39-year-old also faces? TMZ sources say Cee Lo will be charged with one count of furnishing ecstasy and could be arraigned as early as this afternoon.
The charges date from an incident last year when a woman who went to a Los Angeles sushi restaurant with Cee Lo told police her date slipped ecstasy in her drink and the next thing she knew, she was in his bed sans clothing. According to TMZ, there were a few questions about the case including the woman’s dating history with Cee Lo.
Cee Lo denied the woman’s allegations and encouraged the LAPD to investigate. Sources tell TMZ Cee Lo hasn’t said anything publicly about slipping his date ecstasy but the woman involved claims to have a tape of Cee Lo referencing the drug in relation to the incident — hence the expected felony charge of furnishing the illegal substance.
The punishment for a first offense in these types of cases is probation, says TMZ, so expect to see Cee Lo continue to see him fill his swivel chair on the panel. That is, unless NBC decides to bring their own hammer down on Cee Lo.
