Brian Pounds and Austin Jenckes Sings “To Love Somebody” by The Bee Gees
On October 21, Team Blake Shelton country crooners Brian Pounds and Austin Jenckes sang “To Love Somebody” by The Bee Gees. Coming into rehearsals, Brian was immediately blown away by Austin’s power, which is not only his strength, but his downfall. Mentor Cher advised Austin to pull back from the song, to allow a natural build up and wow moment. Brian, on the other hand, was told to get lost into the song and not make the song “too cerebral.”
At the final rehearsals, Brian began to impress Cher, while Austin’s sound was being lost. When both singers took the the stage, all bets were off and they sang the Bee Gees hit song with tons of soul and conviction.
Christina Aguilera loved the cover, but however felt that she connected more with Austin’s sound. Coach Cee Lo Green thought that Brian was a strong singer, but that Austin showed more emotion. Adam Levine felt that both singers did a wonderful job, but ultimately, he liked what Austin did with the song.
When it was time to make a choice, Blake decided to keep Austin on his team.
